making the borough a better place to live

The health and wellbeing board is focussed on how we (individuals, families, communities, organisations and local politicians) can make Dudley a place where people live –

longer, safer, healthier lives

Dudley Health & Wellbeing Board

longer, safer healthier lives

The Dudley Health and Wellbeing Board was set up in April 2012 and its primary role is to provide leadership for Dudley's health and care system. Using local evidence, it works to identify the needs of local residents, improve efficiency and secure better care to improve health and wellbeing and tackle health inequalities across the borough.

The board encourages effective democratic, patient and carer input into the commissioning of services. It is the forum through which those who commission services to improve the health and wellbeing of Dudley residents are held to account.

Key functions of the wellbeing Board

  • providing leadership for our local health and care system in Dudley borough

  • identify needs and health priorities which we publish in a Joint Strategic Assessmentp  and a health & wellbeing strategy

  • promoting high quality, safe and joined-up health and care services.

  • tackling health inequalities

  • matching up all our investment plans to our health priorities

  • engaging with the public and people using our services, especially through Healthwatch Dudley, as well as with providers of services in our area

  • promoting wellbeing through working with others who can influence this

  • taking action to develop the Dudley health and care system to be sustainable and fit for the future
